Andrea Angelini - Artistic Director
- Italy
Born in Bologna, Italy, Andrea Angelini began his piano studies
as a child, at the Rimini Lettimi School. He later earned a
Bachelor of Music at Ferrara's Frescobaldi Conservatory.
Particularly interested in piano pedagogy, he studied with Rita
Ferri and Alexander Lonquich. After earning a Master in Choral
Conducting in 1992, he studied music therapy with Professor
Cremaschi of Milan University. His interests led him to the
choral field, and he earned a Bachelor studying Liturgical Music
at Modena and at the International Art Academy in Rome with
Fulvio Angius. He also studied organ at Pesaro's Conservatory of
Music. Since 1988, Andrea Angelini has conducted many concerts
with the choir Carla Amori, in Italy and abroad. He has also
worked with the Cattolica City Choir and the Cesena Lyric Choir.
In 1996 he was named Director of the Rimini Cathedral Choir,
Alessandro Grandi. He led this choir in several performances,
including in important venues such as St. Peter’s Basilica in
Rome - where he was able to meet Pope John Paul the Second - and
in Milan’s Cathedral. He is also the Artistic Director and
Conductor of the professional group Musica Ficta Vocal Ensemble.
He has also conducted the Lithuanian Jauna Muzika Choir , the
Latvian Ave Sol and the Tudor Consort from New Zealand. Mr.
Angelini is the Artistic Director of the International Festival
Voices from America and the Sound of the Organ held annually in
Rimini each spring. He is also the Artistic Director and member
of the Jury of the international organ competition, Marcello
Galanti. He was also member of the Jury at the following
International Choir’s Competitions: Grand Prix Slovakia, Malta
Choir Festival, Cantonigros Choir Competition, Jersey Choir
Competition, The Prague Competition for Blind Musicians, The
Rhodes Music Competition. He frequently leads choral workshops
in Italy and abroad. He is the artistic director and one of the
tutors at the Rimini International Choral Workshop, where he
teaches with Peter Phillips of the Tallis Scholars. He taught
music theory, music history and piano at the State School of
Music of the Republic of San Marino. His professional
memberships include the Artistic Committee of AERCO (Regional
Association of Choirs), FENIARCO (National Italian Federation of
Regional Choral Associations), ABCD (British Association of
Choral Directors) and RCO (The Royal College of Organists). He
is also a regular reviewer for the press. He has written
numerous transcriptions for choirs and chamber ensembles,
including a monumental transcription of Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria
in D RV589, for choir, soloists, and organ (with the organ part
being quite suited to the instrument). His transcription of
Faure's Requiem is published by Gelber Hund Verlag of Berlin,
who are also publishers of a book of repertoire for organ and
violin, edited by Mr. Angelini. For the American CanticaNOVA
Publication, he has prepared transcriptions of important
Renaissance Anthems.

Jason Lorenzon - Member of the Jury -
USA
A native of Canada, Jason Lorenzon began his keyboard
studies at the age of five and received his first organ post
at the age of nine years old. He completed his
undergraduate degree in music at the University of Western
Ontario and during his tenure there he was the only student
to have won the concerto competition as a first year
student. He received a Master of Music Degree at the
Cleveland Institute of Music. He has studied the piano with
pianists Jean-Paul Bracey, Thomas Hecht and International
French Concert pianist Cecile Ousset. He has studied the
organ with internationally acclaimed American concert
organist Todd Wilson. Jason also holds the Colleague
Diploma of the American Guild of Organists, the Associate
Diploma of the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto,
Ontario. He has placed in several competitions including
the Bach Kalamazoo International Competition and more
recently he placed second in the first Marcello Galanti
International Organ Competition in 2000. He has played in
Canada, the United States and Europe. He is active as a
recitalist, conductor and adjudicator. He has served as the
Director of Music for the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle,
St. Petersburg, Florida and on the music faculties of Case
Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Music School
Settlement. He currently serves as Director of Music
Ministry for Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Macedonia, Ohio,
a suburb of Cleveland Ohio, where he oversees the entire
liturgical musical program including four choirs and the
Organ Scholar Program and as Director of Music for the
Hudson Community Chorus, Hudson, Ohio. Jason is a member of
the National Standing Committee of Organists for the
National Association of Pastoral Musicians and is a regular
convention presenter and contributor to their bi-monthly
publication, the Pastoral Musician.

Alexei Parshin - Member of the Jury -
Russia
Alexei Parshin
was born in 1957 in Moscow. He began his musical studies
under A. Artobolevskaya. At the age of 13 Alexei Parshin
made his debut as pianist in the Great Hall of Moscow
Tchaikovsky Conservatory.In 1975 he graduated from Central
Music School in Moscow (the piano class of I. Kliatchko).
From 1975 to 1981 Mr. Parshin studied piano with M.
Voskressensky and organ with L. Roizman at the Moscow
Tchaikovsky Conservatory where in 1981 he obtained the
Diploma of Concert Artist, Teacher and Accompanist.
Following a postgraduate course in organ he joined the
teacher staff of the Moscow Conservatory in 1984. Parshin
was granted a French State Cultural Scholarship in 1987 for
a year during which time he was enrolled in the organ class
of Marie-Claire Alain at the National Regional Conservatory
in Rueil-Malmaison. There he received the Gold Medal
(unanimously) and gave several recitals in France, notably
at Notre Dame de Paris, Basilique Cathedral Saint-Denis,
Cite International des Arts de Paris. He also studied
improvisation; Jacques Taddei was his professor. In 1980 he began
his career as an organist. Alexei Parshin gives many
recitals in concert halls, cathedrals, and churches in
Russia, Europe, and America. He has recorded numerous CDs.
He is also Honored Artist of Russian Federation (1999).

Ennio Cominetti - Member of the Jury -
Italy
Following his conservatory studies, organist
Ennio Cominetti
began his multifaceted musical activity not only as a performer
but also in composition, musicological research and music
journalism. He has played in the most prestigious organ
festivals of Europe, Asia, Africa, the United States, Canada and
South America, for a total of some 1.000 appearances to date,
with programs ranging from ancient to contemporary music. He has
recorded several CDs for Italian and German companies, broadcast
by RAI3 (Radio) and favorably received by the most qualified
critics.
He has
received national and international awards as a composer. His
compositions bave been recorded on CD and broadcast by RAI,
Bayerische Rundfunk and Radio Vaticana. His efforts in music
publishing are significant: not only does he supervise a
philological edition of ancient music, he also edits a
collection of organ music and one of choral music, for
prestigious Italian and foreign publishers. He contributes
organ-related articles to the magazines Musica e Scuola, Studi e
documentazioni and L'orgue francophone. In Suonare News he
writes a column on the valued organs of Italy. He has conducted
historical research on and catalogued the organs in Como
province, publishing the volume Gli organi del decanato alto
Lario. He recently published a biography of Marco Enrico Bossi,
the most important Italian organist of the 19th and 20th
centuries. He has held organ music seminars in Italy, Austria
and Switzerland and has sat on juries in organ-playing,
composition and chamber music competitions at the national level.
He is artistic director of the International Organ Festival in
Varenna and the Province of Lecco, the "Lario in Musica"
International Festival and the "Lario in Musica" Intemational
Competition of Musical Interpretation. For over ten years he had
been official organist of the Collegiata di San Giovanni
Battista in Morbegno. Since 1994 he has taught organ at the
"Musica e Arte" summer specialization courses in Tolentino (Marches).
Since 1998 he has been director of the sacred music department
and organ professor at the Arts Academy in Rome.
